About us

What makes us so different from other gyms? We have been shown time and time again that a typical gym is filled with a wide majority of machines that half the time we don’t even use to save ourselves the embarrassment of doing it wrong or simply even asking. We have been shown by the masses that our workouts should consist of isolation movements and extended aerobic sessions. The fitness community from trainers to the magazines has the exercising public believing that lateral raises, curls, leg extensions, sit-ups and the like combined with 20-40 minutes on the stationary bike, stair stepper or treadmill are going to lead to some level of great fitness.

So let’s say that you belong to a commercial gym, I know I have. You see the same people every day. You put in your earphone and don’t talk to anyone. Before you know it a year has passed and you notice that you and everyone else all look basically the same as the first day you saw them, despite the fact that they spend at least an hour a day on the elliptical reading a magazine, watching Ellen or texting on their cell phones. No one would notice if you skipped a day, a week or a month for that matter.

We are the antithesis of a commercial gym. We WANT you to come. When our athletes attend regularly it builds a community and support system that is critical to the success of YOU, our gym. Unlike the headphones on, no eye contact, accountability or personal relationships, CrossFit is based on a team workout structure. All participants in each class warm-up together, do skill work, perform the workout of the day and cool down together. As a team, as a family and a unit, we start and end the workout together. Pushing, encouraging, celebrating and helping each other each step of the way.

At Central Oregon CrossFit we work with compound movements and shorter high intensity sessions. We replace lateral raises with push-presses, curls with pull-ups and leg extensions with squats. At COCF you are the machines! Why? Because compound functional movements performed at high intensity is radically more effective at eliciting nearly any desired fitness result. This is not a matter of opinion but an irrefutable scientific fact. Come join our community and see for yourself! Let’s smash goals, get stronger and more fit, together!
